Post op day 3
Tom continues to overall do really well despite not feeling great. His bloodwork is much better along with his BP. He has transitioned from the ICU into the PCU yesterday afternoon (which is like a step down unit of the ICU) same floor--but the nurses have 2-3 patients instead of 1-2. He got a ton of fluids during surgery and 4 units of blood over the past several days, so they are working to get the excess fluid off yesterday and today--he's had several doses of lasix but then they are hoping to take his urinary catheter out later this afternoon. Much to his chagrin, they are also planning on several walks today and more time in the chair. Depending on how things are going, they have chatted about moving him to a general floor potentially today or tomorrow. They also took out his arterial line last night as it wasn't really needed.
