Good news---Mayo updates and puppies
Lots of updates coming your way--there's been a ton happening since our last update, which seems crazy since it hasn't even been a full week!
First the basics--we'll be doing Tom's 2nd dose of chemo this Thursday 6/5 again and then taking home his little bulb of 5FU (that's legit the abbreviation of the chemo and I'm here for it!) We'll also be asking if genetic testing is appropriate for him as pancreatic cancer can be linked to the BRCA gene, so if that's the case, we'll want that information for the girls. This was something I didn't realize until Tom was diagnosed and my new reading hobby.
Tom still has little to no appetite so we'll be chatting with his team this week about medications that might help with that and see how his weight is doing (he's been hovering around 155-160lbs) A friend and co-worker of mine has created a meal train and google doc list of helpful items for us, mainly high calorie/high protein items for Tom or gift cards options. I've included the links for those interested, however there's zero pressure to participate.

We have heard back from Mayo! They have reviewed his scans/records and want him to complete 2 months worth of chemo and then be seen for 3ish days of testing there. We are scheduled to arrive on Monday 7/21, have a CT, PET scan, and stay through the 23rd for sure. They are planning to do a laparoscopy as well to take a peek around inside his abdomen. We will be seeing Dr. Mark Truty Mark J. Truty, M.D., M.S. - Doctors and Medical Staff - Mayo Clinic. Clearly we haven't met him yet, but his bio is definitely impressive for his specialty, and we are hopeful he has great news for Tom's case.
Finally because I'm absolutely insane and clearly did not have enough chaos in my life, I agreed to helping rehome not 1, but 2 sweet puppies! This is Millie and Murphy, a 5 year old Shih tzu (girl) and 4 year old Shih poo (boy.) They have gotten tons of loving and snuggles from all of us and so far are fitting in well. They are house broken, kennel trained, a little skittish of loud/chaos, and mostly enjoy the cuddles; they were not loving the more rambunctious little kids (toddler) at their previous home. We're taking them to see our favorite vet/previous neighbor for a check up and shots this week!
