Chemo #7
We're officially on the downhill slide of our original plan for chemo!
Time for the good news/bad news...Tom has continued to lose weight despite consuming plenty of calories; he's at roughly 147lbs 😕 He's had GI symptoms since this all started in May despite dietary and medication changes. They suggested we utilize a couple of the medications routinely vs. PRN to see if we can get better results, so we are trying that this week and I'm reaching out to Mayo to see if their team or dietician there has any additional ideas. Luckily dehydration hasn't been a concern! On the positive note, he is continuing to eat better and has been requesting steak, pasta, and pizza along with eating out a few times since Mayo's visit.

The good news is his blood work looks better this week than it did 2 weeks ago (a few labs were off following his procedure at Mayo the end of July) and they are back to his baseline. His CA 19-9 (the tumor marker) continues to drop and is currently at 825 so things are continuing to move in the right direction.
Unfortunately, the cold sensitivity is getting worse in his fingers during/after chemo so we'll be continuing to monitor how long it's lasting and for symptoms in his feet. There's a chance they would need to reduce that particular medication dosage if it gets too bad. His fatigue continues to be up and down and a bit of brain fog is setting in. So neither he or I can remember anything--sorry friends!
A couple of Tom's friends popped by the chemo suite to see him for a bit and chat, so that was nice as we haven't seen them recently.
I went with Vivian to get her hair cut and highlighted for school and she was thrilled with the results. She couldn't believe how long it took though 😂 Close to 4 hours for those of you who aren't familiar with beauty routines. We'll see if we can get some pictures tomorrow for the first day of school.
Scarlett is anxious about volleyball practice and the season starting for her middle school soon, so I'm certain we'll be busy practicing for the next few months.
As for me, everything continues as normal--work, house chores, and the laziest puppies who want all the snuggles and to sleep 90% of the day.
