School countdown and Fair fun

I totally missed updating the blog this past week, so it's been 11 days since I added the last news from Mayo results.  So sorry--luckily for us, nothing super crazy was happening 😉

Tom completed his #6 chemo on Wed 8/6 and was wrecked that afternoon/evening but was feeling better by the weekend.  No new symptoms, just the fatigue kicking his butt and continued increase in cold sensitivity in his fingers.  He had mostly maintained his weight for the 3 weeks according to their scale (which seems a little sketchy) but fingers crossed it continues.  He was down 0.4lbs, but his appetite has remained better (not great, but better) and we focus on high calorie/protein foods and drinks.

Tom and I had dinner out with his boss and a few co-workers which was nice.  I've met some of them once before, but the others I had never met.  Tom was in the same boat--he's worked for his boss for a couple years and obviously spoken with her frequently, but had never met her in person (she lives in Arizona).  They missed each other the last time she was in town.  They are a lovely group of people who check in with Tom pretty often.

Some of you have seen from FB, but we did the manage to hit the fair this year.  Tom and I have joked for the past 3-4 years about renting a scooter because of all the walking...we did actually rent one this year!  We knew Tom's endurance would not make all the walking and we still wanted to do the fair for a few hours with the girls.  It worked out pretty well and he could also leave it outside and navigate some buildings on foot.  We got some priorities figured out (baby animals, big boar, horses, giant slide, decorated cakes, and some food) with a few other random things mixed in and spent 4ish hours at the fair.  We got home about 2p and Tom and I both ended up napping 😴

We are counting down the days until school starts.  Pretty sure Tom and I are the only ones excited about it.  The girls are going to be in for a rude awakening this next week as we try to start adjusting their bedtime/wake up times.  They will be spending their last week soaking up summer, trying to find school clothes and shoes (they have so many options!), and enjoying the last few days of sleeping in a bit.  Millie and Murphy will be so confused as to why they are gone all day as they much prefer to have someone to cuddle--so Tom will end up with even more love 💗 This was from earlier today when Tom and V ran an errand and Scarlett was sleeping.

Tom has chemo this week and we are hopeful we'll be on the downhill slide with #7--however we'll have to see what the PET scan shows in Sept again.
