Chemo #9 and Mayo Prep

Chemo #9 got wrapped up this week.  For those that haven't heard it was a bit of a wacky Wednesday this past week.  Tom and I hung out at chemo until I got a call from the school nurse for Scarlett.  During PE Scarlett rolled her ankle pretty badly and needed picked up.

While I was taking her home, Tom texted me that the chemo suite lost power! Luckily they had some emergency flood lights and fully charged pumps so he could finish the last 30 minutes, but he had to walk down 5 flights of steps and maintenance was propping open the automatic doors.

To be safe, I took Scarlett to DMOS urgent care (they were awesome and in/out in about 1.5 hours) Good news, no breaks--just a bad sprain.  She got a compression sock and soft brace to help healing.  She did have to miss her volleyball game this week though

Besides the chaos on Wednesday--Tom's appointment overall went well.  He's still hovering right at 150 lbs.   His bloodwork looked good and his CA 19-9 dropped again.  We'd love to see it continue to drop by half or more...but it went from 467 to 328.  Ideally it should be under 35, but based on the literature Tom and I have been reading is "ok" as long as it's under 180 for surgery/treatment.

We are getting ready to go back up to Mayo this week on Wednesday and Thursday.  The girls are staying with friends locally so they can attend school, it's just Tom and I traveling.  While the girls certainly leave us all the times to hang out with friends--this is the first time we'll both be out of town/away from them since Scarlett was born.

We are just scheduled for lab work, a CT scan, a PET scan, and a discussion with Dr. Truty and his team.  However, per usual, insurance is fighting the PET scan so there's a peer to peer scheduled next week prior to arrival.  We have a list of questions about next steps and would love more details about the surgery potential.

Overall, we're just doing the typical things (work, school, house stuff.)  Viv is having a new experience this weekend and is planning to work an overnight shift for group respite from 11p-7am.  For my early to bed early to rise kiddo, I anticipate she'll be cranky tomorrow.  Wish us all lucky 😀
